How Rohan Sharma Cracked TCS Ninja in 12 Days of Practice
A CS graduate from Pune walks us through the exact 12-day routine — what he practised, how many mock rounds he did, and the one HR question that almost broke him.
Rohan is a 2026-batch CS graduate from Pune. Two weeks before his TCS Ninja slot, he had never sat through a real interview. Twelve days later he walked out with an offer. This is his day-by-day routine — unfiltered.
Day 1–2: Audit, don’t practise
“The first two days I didn’t practise a single answer. I made a list of every project on my resume, every technology I claimed, and marked each one “confident / shaky / lying”. I found 3 lyings. I removed them from my resume that day. That single act made the rest of the prep 10x easier because I stopped fearing follow-up questions.”
Day 3–5: One HR round every day
“I ran a 15-question HR mock every morning on MockMate AI — same target role (“Associate Software Engineer, TCS”), same resume. Day 3 I scored 61%. Day 5 I hit 82%. What changed wasn’t my answers, it was that I stopped saying “basically” and “like”.”
Day 6–8: Technical drills
“Switched to Technical mode and pasted a real TCS JD I got from a senior. The AI hit me with output-based Java questions I hadn’t seen — things like “What does String s = new String("abc").intern() print?”. Missed 4 out of 15 on Day 6. Day 8 I missed just 1.”
Day 9: The question that nearly broke me
“The AI asked, “Why TCS and not a product-based startup?” I froze. I gave a garbage answer about “brand and learning”. The feedback report was brutal — called out that my answer had zero specific reason. That evening I sat with my dad and wrote out 3 real reasons. In the actual TCS HR round two days later, the exact same question came up.”
Day 10–11: Two full simulations a day
“Morning: HR mock. Evening: Technical mock. I recorded the video of both and watched them at 1.5x. The pace feedback said I was 12% too fast — I trained slower by physically resting my hands on the desk.”
Day 12: The real interview
“It felt weirdly easy. Not because I knew the answers — I had literally answered scarier ones the night before to an AI. When they asked me about my mini-project I spoke for 90 seconds with numbers and it just flowed.”
“Twelve reps. That’s all it took. If you had asked me on Day 1 I would have called that impossible.”
